Why Pitchers Will Fear Hitters Who Read This Blog Post
In this blog post you will discover how to dominate pitchers from this day forward.
That’s right.
Imagine having a weapon so powerful, it will change the way you look at hitting forever.
In fact, pitchers around America warned me not to publish it.
But I don’t like pitchers, so who cares what those dummy’s think.
Are you ready for it?
Great!
First, let me tell you what I see from high school and college hitters.
It’s seems to be an epidemic.
This disease is raging across the country and makes pitchers look better than Pamela Anderson in a two piece bikini.
What is it?
It’s not understand pitching counts and how to use use pitch counts to your advantage.
Sounds too simple right?
It’s true!
I watch around 8 college baseball games a week and I see my team play 4-6 games a week and guess what?
Hitters around America do not understand pitch counts and how to use them to their advantage.
I know right
It’s a shame!
It’s scandalous in fact!
And it’s the main reason I felt compelled to write this blog post for you.
You see…
…it’s not just Little League hitters.
It’s D I hitters, high school hitters and all hitters in between.
Some coaches have forgotten the game of baseball is cerebral.
The games is played between the ears and will always be played between the ears.
You can use flawless hitting mechanics and have the talent of Bryce Harper and still struggle at the dish if you don’t understand pitch counts.
It’s why hitters who have the potential to hit .380 end up with a rusty .278 average.
Luckily your intelligent enough to read this blog and your smart enough to put this weapon in your arsenal starting tonight.
Shall we begin?
Awesome!
Introducing my 3 musts when you are in plus counts or ahead in the count.
1. When you are in a *PLUS* count, which means you are in the counts of 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 2-1, and 3-1. You must…must…look for a pitch up in the zone. You don’t have to look for a fast ball, a curve ball or a slider. You just need to look for a ball up and pass on everything else.
Here’s why: Many coaches will tell hitters to sit on a fastball when they are in plus count. But they never mention location. I hear it from opposing coaches, “Sit dead red”…”look fastball”…”come out of your shoes”.
Guess what I’ve never heard.
You’re smart!
“Look for the pitch up”.
I don’t care what pitch is thrown. If your are in a plus count, then you need to look for a pitch up. If the pitchers locates properly and throws the pitch down at the knees, you might as well pass on it. Nine out of ten times you’ll just pound it into the ground.
Always look for the ball up when you are ahead in the count.
2. Be on offense.
It’s shocking to see and I see it all too often
A hitter get’s in a plus count and then takes a weak swing or a defensive swing and grounds out or pops up on the infield.
You don’t have to come out of your shoes and over swing, but you sure as heck cannot take a defensive swing when ahead in the count.
It’s not always smart for a baseball player to think while he’s at the plate. But you must remind yourself what count your in and how to use it to your advantage and then to make sure you rifle the barrel through the zone like a .44 slug, when in a plus count.
3. Pay attention to what the pitcher is throwing in certain counts while you are on the bench and not at bat. Patterns will emerge. For instance, let’s say in a 2-0 count with a runner on second you’ve seen the pitcher throw a 2-0 curve ball three times.
So…
If you get to the plate and there is a duck on second base, then I would look for a curve ball up in the zone and hammer it. If you don’t get it, then don’t swing. You still have strikes to play with.
Know your situations and use them to your advantage.
Well there you have it.
My 3 musts for hitting in plus counts.
Hopefully you will put these to use and use them to dominate pitchers everywhere.
Great to get back to writing and as always.
All the best,
Coach Bucher
